“HICprevent” blog on hospital infection control & prevention (microBEnet blog of the day)

HICprevent is today’s microBEnet microbiology’s Blog of the Day.  Blogs are taken from list of Microbiology Blogs we have curated at microBEnet.

This blog is one of the few blogs we have found out there that is heavily focused on microbes specifically in the built environment.  The blog is by Gary Evans and is associated with a publication from AHC media “Hospital Infection Control & Prevention.”  I confess I am not really familiar with this publication so cannot comment on whether it is useful or not.

The blog is self described as “With the HICprevent blog site we extend our coverage and commentary on this dynamic field, opening a new dialogue with infection preventionists, health care epidemiologists and others seeking solutions to one of the most vexing problems in patient safety: health care associated infections.

And there are lots of posts directly related to the main topics here at microBEnet including Despite room cleaning, MDR A. baumannii persists in patient environment and Norovirus infections a deadly threat to frail patients and Disinfection caps cut CLABSI cases in half.  Other posts on general topics of interest including those on Hand washing/hand hygiene and Heathcare Associated Infections (HAIs).  Although I note most of what is there focuses on the pathogens and not the whole microbial community in the built environment, but it is a start.
