We are excited to announce the MetaSUB International Consortium’s 4th Annual Conference on urban metagenomics to be held at the Tivoli Ecoresort Praia do Forte Bahia in Brazil, from August 14-15, 2018. The conference is co-hosted by Weill Cornell Medicine and the AC Camargo Cancer Center.

You can register for the meeting here:

If you’d like to submit an abstract to present a poster or speak at the meeting (due June 1!) please find more details on submission here: http://metasub.org/call-for-abstracts/

The conference will convene established and emerging scientists from several fields including genomics, bioinformatics, microbiology, engineering, and medicine, to share results of their work in the field of microbiome and metagenomics studies. The meeting will largely focus on discussing the data from Global City Sampling Day 2016 and 2017, plans for future analysis and papers, as well as grants and future goals for the consortium.

More details about the meeting including a full program will be posted on the conference page here: http://metasub.org/2018-conference/

This year, we acknowledge support from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation, the WorldQuant Foundation, Jeff Zhu and the Clinical and Translational Science Center (CTSC), the Irma T. Hirschl and Monique Weill-Caulier Charitable Trusts, the Bert L and N Kuggie Vallee Foundation, and support from the U.S. National Institutes of Health (F31GM111053 and R25EB020393).

We also would especially like to thank our sponsors for making this meeting possible: Promega, QIAGEN, Zymo Research, Illumina, Arbor Bio, and Neoprospecta. Their support enables young scientists to travel and join the meeting and directly support the goals and technologies used in the Consortium.

See you in Brazil!
