Job Description: Two postdoctoral positions focused on 1. systems biology- and 2. molecular-based studies of the human microbiome are available in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology at the University of California San Francisco in the laboratory of Dr. Susan Lynch.
Minimum Requirements: Candidates must have received a PhD in microbiology or a closely related discipline within the past five years from an accredited college or university.

The first position will focus on the analyses of large metagenomic and metatranscriptomic datasets, the second position on the molecular underpinnings of microbial-immune interactions in chronic inflammatory diseases. Experience with strain-level metagenomic reconstruction and/or metatranscriptomic analyses is a significant advantage for the first position. A strong working knowledge of human immunology and microbial strain isolation, culture and mutant generation is of benefit for the second open position.
