Well, normally I would not want to write about things going on at the Playboy Mansion here, or really anywhere. But this story about a Legionella outbreak seems to have legs (or maybe, flagella). The LA Times has another article about this outbreak discussing in more detail how social media was used to help track the outbreak: Playboy Mansion outbreak: Officials use Facebook, Twitter, social media to track mystery illness | L.A. NOW | Los Angeles Times. Now clearly, not all indoor microbiology case studies will have this much social media information to use, but it does show that epidemiologists are being creative when they need to be.
