Going through the list of Microbiology Blogs we have curated at microBEnet and going to try to feature one of them every day or so. And just going to do this in semi-alphabetic order.

Excited to see a little love to the fungi here, but instantly bummed out with inappropriately-timed advertisements for automatic weapons. More reason for bloggers and academics alike to “step up” to platforms not trying to sell me something.
Wow – I don’t get those ads at that site … but that is annoying. I go back and forth on this issue on my own blog. Maybe I will go back to canceling ads …
I wondered how specific the ads are: blogspot seems to be targeted to either my reading of the current news headlines or catering to central pennsylvania web searches. I pay for no ads on my websites because of this…
In any event, I’m happy for the microbiology blog of the day.
Needless to say we don’t see ads for guns in our blog in the UK (right now I see an ad for Shelter, a charity for the homeless) – the ads are contextual and they are localised to your region by Google adsense.
We will review our use of these ads after this criticism
