Two post doc positions are open at UCSF in the lab of Susan Lynch on Human Microbiome research. One is on studies of pediatric airway disease and the other is on studies of inflammatory bowel disease. Details below:
Postdoctoral Position in Human Microbiome Research
Job Description: A postdoctoral position focused on studies of the human microbiome in pediatric airway disease is available in the Department of Medicine, Division of Gastroenterology at the University of California San Francisco in the laboratory of Dr. Susan Lynch.
Minimum Requirements: Candidates must have received a PhD in microbiology or a closely related discipline within the past five years from an accredited college or university.
Qualifications: Technical proficiency in the application of molecular microbiological techniques and microbial community analyses are essential for this position. The successful candidate will lead studies focused on the airway microbiome in childhood asthma. Experience with strain-level metagenomic reconstruction, metabolomic profiling, analyses and knowledge of microbial metabolism are highly desirable. Strong working knowledge of human immunology and microbial pathogenesis are of benefit, as are microbial strain isolation, culture and mutant generation. The successful candidate will be a self-starter, interact with multiple collaborators on the studies and thus require excellent organizational and communication (both oral and written) skills as well as a proven track record in scientific publication.
Salary is commensurate with experience. Please email curriculum vitae and names of three references to Dr. Susan Lynch (susan.lynch@ucsf.edu).

Dr. Lynch,
Do you have other opportunities for a postdoc? I am interested in microbiome research although I got my PhD seven year a go.
