So this looks like a very very good meeting. Source: Schedule – 10th World Conference of Science Journalists, San Francisco 2017
As a science writer, blogger, Tweeter, etc, it seems of great interest to me, even though I am not sure whether I would classify in any way as a science journalist. Regardless, if you are a science journalist, or if you are interested in science journalism, this looks like a pretty good meeting.
Interestingly, there is a lot on the agenda that pertains to microbes or microbiomes or related topics. This includes the following:
Thursday October 26
- Workshop: Emerging Infectious Diseases: Post Zika in Latin America and the Caribbean
- Workshop: Data Analysis in R for Journalists (ok not about microbes but could be good)
Friday October 27
- Preprints, open access, and the end of Ingelfinger: Issues at the nexus of publishing and science journalism today (ok also not about microbes, but very important)
- The Challenges of Covering Infectious Disease Outbreaks
Saturday October 28
- Book It: A Conversation Between Authors Mary Roach and Ed Yong
- A Delicate Balance: Immunity in Health, Disease and Medicine
- Slow-Motion Epidemics: The Global Threat of Chronic Disease
- Reporting with Clarity on Vaccines and Vaccine Development
- Antibiotic Resistance: The Next Challenges
Monday October 29
