Highly resistant “superbug” Candida auris shed in skin from infected patients 

The bug, called Candida auris, is highly resistant to many existing antifungal drugs. It’s also resistant to regular cleaning methods.

Well – this is not fun.  An article in STAT reports on a presentation at the ASM 2019 meeting regarding Candida auris and how it appears to be shed from infected patients in with shedded skin.  This provides a possible means for spread of the infectious agent.
