Position Description: We invite applications for a three-year NASA funded postdoctoral
research position in a multi-institutional and highly interdisciplinary research project. The project
goal is to integrate multiplatform satellite and ground observations, as well as multiscale
reanalysis and atmospheric simulation data with microbiological tools to bridge dust aerosols
transport and microbial biodiversity in the atmosphere. This position will be within the Department
of Civil and Environmental Engineering at Virginia Tech (Blacksburg, VA), while it offers the
opportunity to work closely with scientists at the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences and
Aerospace and Ocean Engineering at Virginia Tech, as well as the United States Geological
Survey and the University of La Laguna, the Canary Islands, Spain. For this Postdoctoral
Associate position, we seek highly motivated applicants with skills and background in aerosol
remote sensing and modeling relevant to long-range transport of dust, and interest in working
across disciplines to bridge aerosol remote sensing and aerobiology.

Desired Qualifications: An earned doctorate degree in a relevant discipline, a track record of
publications in the field of (dust) aerosol remote sensing and modeling, strong communication
skills, and a demonstrated ability to work productively in a fast-paced, collaborative, and
multidisciplinary environment.

Salary Information: Commensurate with experience.
